The Emergency Alert System has been in existence for several years. Many are familiar with the alert tone and scrolling message that appears on your television, or the weekly test that will often be heard on your local radio station. However many are not aware that there is a system that will also activate a message on your mobile device called Wireless Emergency Alerts. This service is location based and sent to devices currently using an impacted tower location. This type of system will allow someone that is temporarily travelling through the area, as well as regular customers, to still receive an emergency message.
