I see several posts weekly, on social media, asking for ways to stop the harassing "robocalls" and unsolicited telemarketer scams. The FCC hosted a challenge to find ways to stop these calls since the "Do Not Call List" doesn't work and was all but unenforceable. The result was the FCC challenge winner, Nomorobo (www.nomorobo.com/). Nomorobo is a unique tool that is completely free for landlines and utilizes the simulring service that is usually offered by your telephone provider in the common long list of "features". How does this work? Very simple! Simulring is a service that allows an incoming call to ring multiple "numbers" or devices at once. This could be your home phone, office phone, and or mobile phone. The first one that picks up, receives the call. Nomorobo is simply added to the list of "numbers" on your simulring service. Nomorobo watches the incoming calls and compares the caller-id to a national list of telemarketers and if the number is recognized simply disconnects the call. Nomorobo even goes one step further by being able see when a new "robocall" goes out to the masses and can immediately and automatically add that number to the blacklist! You may ask what you will hear on your end? Basically nothing..............your phone will ring once and that is it. When this occurs you can smile and know that Nomorobo is working for you!
